Appraisal Sentry™ is a web service developed by AppraisalWorld™ that authenticates the identity of the appraiser. This unique service satisfies the ever-increasing major security needs of the real estate lending industry.
Appraiser Authentication
To earn a green Sentry "certification" shield in the AppraisalWorld Directory, the appraiser must complete a rigorous three-step authentication process with EVS, a third-party company that is in the business of identifying individuals. During the first step of the authentication process, the data that is provided by the appraiser is compared against credit bureau data in real-time, which can immediately report back any potential problems. In the second step, the appraiser is asked a series of "Out of Pocket" questions, for which only they would know the answers. These questions can range from "How much was your mortgage payment last month?" to "What is your mother's maiden name?" The appraiser submits their license in the third step.
Ongoing Verification
Every time an appraiser is located by a search within the Directory, they are matched and authenticated against a real-time database. So when your AppraisalWorld Directory listing includes a green shield, lenders know that you are who you say you are.
The 3-Step Authentication Process
Appraiser completes online application to register with Sentry. Credit bureau confirms application data.- Appraiser answers out-of-pocket questions online and EVS in real time confirms their identity. Only the appraiser would know the answer to those questions.
- If identity is authenticated, appraiser must submit their license information to complete the final step of the 3-step process.
Once these steps have been completed, the appraiser is authenticated and a green Sentry certification shield will appear on their online business card in their AppraisalWorld Directory listing.
If the appraiser is unable to be authenticated online, they may pursue Sentry authentication via a manual notary process.
